He will be speaking on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 4-5pm in room K2B. Mr. Casellas will speak to students about career choices, his career progression and how students might best prepare for a position in those practice settings. This is a great way to network and ask Mr. Casellas about his career and how he got there. The following is Mr. Casellas’s biography:
Mr. Gilbert F. Casellas has a broad and diverse range of successful experiences at the highest levels of business, law, and government. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Corporate Responsibility for Dell Inc. where he led the creation of an integrated and global corporate responsibility function that encompassed the company’s diversity, sustainability and corporate giving activities. He has previously served as Chairman of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, General Counsel of the Department of the Air Force and Co-Chairman of the U.S. Census Monitoring Board. For a number of years he practiced law in Philadelphia and Washington, DC with major law firms and for two years served as President of The Swarthmore Group, a registered investment advisory firm.
He has been a member of the board of Prudential Financial, Inc. since 1998 where he serves as a member of the audit committee and of the University of Pennsylvania since 1996 where he is a charter trustee. In 2009, he was appointed by President Obama to serve as a civilian member of the Military Leadership Diversity Commission. He also currently serves on the Diversity Advisory Board of Toyota Motor North America Inc. and previously chaired the Committee on Workplace Diversity for Yale University and the board of the Hispanic Federation. From 2001 to 2006, he was a member of The Coca-Cola Company’s Diversity Task Force.
He is a former President of the Hispanic National Bar Association and recipient of the “Spirit of Excellence” award from the American Bar Association, the U.S. Department of the Air Force’s Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service and the Lucero Award from Latino Justice/PRLDEF.
The Drexel Law Intellectual Property Society invites you to a panel discussion with the Judges from the District Court for the District of Delaware.
